Since Stella was rich
And John was done,
I can make a catachresis
As well as anyone.

Mine is the broken saucepan
And the broken heart;
But never a tinker
Cared for his art.

Green Book No.3   cf Sir Philip Sydney's 'Stella' (Penelope Rich) and Donne's 'A Hymn to God the Father'.  The name Caird derives from the Gaelic - ceard - a tinker.
