Lord Christ, who made the fire upon the shore And cooked a meal for those poor fishermen, Did they not feel the hot coals of thy love Burn in their souls to make them strong again? Have we, like Peter, heard the crowing cock Sound like a knell to bring our proud hearts down? Yet may we see the red jewels of thy love Ablaze like rubies in thy thorny crown. With Judas we have gone into the night, With Pilate we have washed our hands of thee, Yet may we see the fair flowers of thy love Break forth like roses from the dreadful Tree. Here at thy table we may eat the bread Which feeds the hunger of the heart and mind, And here may drink the rich wine of thy love That satisfies the thirst of all mankind. Undated |
