Hickety pickety my brown hen,
She lays eggs for Jesus men;
With tail a-cock and comb a-curl
She struts three paces from the Turl.
Snug nests against the Ship Street wall
Cradle omelettes served in Hall,
And hard beside these ancient stones
Are breakfasts laid for Jones and Jones.

Jesus College, Oxford (supposed college of Welshmen - coat of arms: 3 gold stags on a green ground) had a hen run just inside the gates at its north-east corner.
